The Chamber

What the Chamber does, the sectors it works on, where its projects stand, and the Board that leads it.

Our mission

Facilitating, promoting and growing trade between the two countries

Trade between the two countries rests almost entirely on a single flow: Mauritanian gold heading to Canada. In the other direction, Canadian exports to Mauritania amount to no more than a few tens of millions. That imbalance is precisely why the Chamber exists: to structure networks, make information dependable and open up the other sectors. We work alongside governments, embassies and businesses, and substitute for none of them.

Making connections

Qualified B2B and B2G meetings, a member directory, sector clubs and trade delegations: the right counterpart, on both sides of the Atlantic.

Informing decisions

Economic monitoring, sector briefs and an annual report on Canada–Mauritania economic relations: dependable market intelligence, in French, English and Arabic.

Convening the corridor

Economic forums in Montreal and Nouakchott, a reception at PDAC, webinars: the gatherings where the corridor takes shape — and where the diaspora plays its full part.

Priority sectors

Where the two economies complement one another

From Mauritania's mineral wealth to Canadian expertise in engineering and project finance, six sectors concentrate the opportunities of the corridor.

Mining

Iron, gold and copper: local content, supply chains and specialized suppliers around the major operators.

Energy & green hydrogen

Offshore gas, solar, wind and green hydrogen projects: the Atlantic's next energy chapter.

Infrastructure & logistics

Ports, roads, transport and logistics corridors between West Africa and North America.

Agri-food & fisheries

Processing, cold chain and value creation from some of the richest fishing grounds in the world.

Technology

Digital, fintech and services: the corridor's new economy, carried by a skilled diaspora.

Finance & investment

Banks, funds, insurance and project finance: securing and accelerating bilateral investment.
