What we are asked most often

The Mauritanian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a not-for-profit organization incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act and registered in Quebec. It is based in Montreal and works on the economic corridor between Canada and Mauritania, alongside governments, embassies and companies, without standing in for any of them.

No. There are no dues: the quality of the network is our only filter. Every member is admitted on application, against published criteria, and undertakes to abide by the Chamber's Code of Conduct.

Six categories: Canadian business, Mauritanian business, SMEs and start-ups of the corridor, diaspora professional, institution and organization, and honorary member by distinction of the Board of Directors.

A decision is given within thirty days. The application is examined by the Admissions Committee, a joint Canadian-Mauritanian body, and admission is recorded in the minutes of the Board of Directors. Membership runs for two years, renewable on simple confirmation of activity.

Because membership is free, the Chamber is funded by the corridor's major companies, across four tiers: Founding, Platinum, Gold and Silver. Sponsorship brings institutional visibility and access to the network — never any influence over admissions, research or governance.

Its flagship event is the Mauritania-Canada Economic Forum, in two complementary editions: the first in Montreal to map the ground and recruit, the second in Nouakchott to convert and take root. Receptions, sector webinars and missions complete the calendar.
